On the eve of ANZAC Day I would like to like to congratulate those communities, RSL clubs, Lions clubs, Rotary clubs and schools that held commemorative services this past week. Of course there are many services being held across our electorate tomorrow. Details can be found on my website or in the brochure mailed to your house recently.
As usual, this issue of my e-newsletter features some local news and updates.
All the best,

ANZAC Day 2013
Local ANZAC Day commemorative services began this past weekend, Sunday 21 April in Mt Evelyn, Montrose and Croydon. I was pleased to be able to attend the Mt Evelyn and Montrose services. Well done to Mt Evelyn RSL and the wider Mt Evelyn community on their reflective ANZAC Day service on Sunday afternoon. Thank-you to the Mt Evelyn Community Schools Choir for their performance.
Well done also to the Montrose Lions Club and the Montrose community for their commemorative service held on Sunday afternoon. It was wonderful to see so many people come together to remember and reflect on the sacrifice of those who gave their lives in World War 1 and every subsequent conflict.
I know that many more will share in the spirit of ANZAC Day by attending one of the services in our local community tomorrow. Please visit my website for details or refer to the brochure mailed to you recently.
Eastern Food Alliance
It was great to be at the Eastern Food Alliance Family Day in Kilsyth on Saturday 13 April. Eastern Food Alliance is a not-for-profit organization doing a fantastic job sourcing and distributing healthy food to those in need. They also provide training for job seekers and High School VCAL students. To learn more about Eastern Food Alliance or find out how you can help, visit easternfoodalliance.org
This year's 'Celebrate Mooroolbark Festival' was a great success. There were stalls, activities and entertainment for the whole family and it was terrific to see so many people getting into the community spirit. Well done to the Committee who worked so hard in the lead up and on the day to ensure that the festival was enjoyable for all.
Black Saturday Remembrance Cruise
Congratulations to Stacey and Troy Kinsmore as well as their team of volunteers and supporters who raised $11,400 at the second annual Black Saturday Remembrance Cruise on Saturday 2 February.
Cyber Safety School Visits
Late last year I held a public forum on internet security designed to help people protect themselves online. A number of parents expressed concerns for their children's safety online, so I decided to take this discussion to our local secondary schools.
Thank-you to Upper Yarra Secondary School and Yarra Hills Secondary College for hosting me and my colleague Paul Fletcher MP, who previously worked for Optus, on recent visits. The students at each school made a great contribution to the discussion, particularly in relation to social media.
