Casey Volunteer Awards 2009

During National Volunteers Week 2009 (11-17 May), I called for all community members to consider local volunteers that deserve recognition for their efforts in our community by nominating them for a Casey Community Award.

The Casey Community Awards 2009 takes into consideration the theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week – Volunteers: Everyday people, extraordinary contributions.

This week we took the time to formally recognise 16 everyday people who have made extraordinary contributions to our local area at a morning tea ceremony on Wednesday.

The time, effort and dedication the recipients of today’s awards have committed to their various organisations is simply overwhelming. Today, as the local Federal Member of Parliament, I am pleased to recognise the following 16 outstanding volunteers in the electorate of Casey:-

Sylvia Ramsden – for her service to the Lilydale Community Information Centre.

Val Meyland – for her service to the Croydon Football Club.

Bruce Turner – for his service to the Croydon Secondary College Chaplaincy Committee.

Ian Atkinson – for his service to the Croydon Secondary College Chaplaincy Committee.
