New car park for Woori Yallock Primary School

Woori Yallock Primary School families are enjoying a new car park with construction now complete.

Council built the $259,000 car park with funding from the Federal Government as pledged by Federal Member for Casey Tony Smith prior to the last election.

The carpark provides 43 spaces for the school community and other community groups that use the school’s facilities after hours.

Works included drainage, kerb and channel, asphalt surfacing and footpath construction.

Yarra Ranges O’Shannassy Ward councillor Jim Child said the carpark project was another example of Council working in partnership with the Federal Government and the community.

“Council is proud to have worked with Tony Smith, our Federal Member, the Federal Government and the primary school on this project,” Cr Child said.

“The works will make a significant difference to the safety of pedestrians, including children, walking to school, while significantly improving traffic congestion in the area, particularly during peak times,” he said.

Federal Member for Casey, Tony Smith said he was pleased that staff, parents and students at Woori Yallock Primary School could now use their new car park.

“Before the last election, I visited the school and saw how dangerous and inadequate the car park was,” Mr Smith said.

“I am therefore very excited to see that the students, parents, and staff now have a safe and high-quality car park to use, which will be of benefit to all of the school and the wider Woori Yallock community.”
