Sports lighting for local Healesville and Montrose netballers

A re-elected Turnbull Liberal Team will provide $140,000 for netball court lighting in Healesville and Montrose, Federal Member for Casey, Tony Smith announced today.

This funding package would see Yarra Ranges Council prioritise this project in its sporting infrastructure budget by also providing $140,000 to complete the $280,000 project.

This funding will allow for lighting to be installed at the two netball courts at Don Road Recreation Reserve and Montrose Recreation Reserve.

This will allow the 215 netballers in Montrose and 60 in Healesville to use them for evening competitions.

Mr Smith said the lights will be beneficial not only for the netballers at the clubs, but also for other players who use the courts during competition.

“I believe it is important to support female participation in sport,” Mr Smith said.

“I am committed to building stronger local communities and, through this funding, our local high achieving netballers will have more options and flexibility as to when they play their games, with the additional option of evening competitions.

“These lights will make a welcome addition to the sporting facilities in Montrose and Healesville and allow for even more people to enjoy the courts.”
