Locals and visitors in Steels Creek and Reefton are benefiting from the installation of two new mobile phone towers which are part of the Turnbull Government’s $220 million Mobile Black Spot Programme.
In February, Reefton’s new tower began operating. Last year, a tower was constructed in Steels Creek; and has been operating since August. It was wonderful to be with the Steels Creek community and Communications Minister Senator Mitch Fifield for the launch.
In further great news for the Upper Yarra area, the plans for new mobile towers in East Warburton and McMahons Creek are progressing. Like the many other towers being built around the country, these will improve mobile coverage for emergency service operators, businesses, residents and visitors.
Under the Mobile Black Spot Programme, funding has been secured to construct three further towers in Chum Creek, Kalorama and Mt Evelyn.
