Locals and visitors in Steels Creek, Reefton and McMahons Creek are benefiting from the installation of new mobile phone towers which are part of the Turnbull Government’s $220 million Mobile Black Spot Programme.

The new tower at McMahons Creek became operational in early April. In February, Reefton’s new tower began operating.

It was wonderful to be with the Steels Creek community and Communications Minister Senator Mitch Fifield last August for the launch of their new tower.

In further great news for the Upper Yarra area, East Warburton’s tower is now in the ‘build’ phase, having received the necessary approvals. It is anticipated it will provide mobile coverage in the coming months.

Improved mobile coverage benefits local residents, including providing an additional level of safety, delivers vital economic infrastructure for businesses and helps boost tourism in the Yarra Valley and the Dandenongs.
