At the 2016 Federal election I promised improved mobile coverage for Kalorama, Mt Evelyn and Chum Creek

On 5th April 2018 it was announced that the Turnbull Government’s Mobile Black Spot Programme will fund mobile phone towers in each of these towns.

Telstra has been chosen to construct the towers in Chum Creek and Mt Evelyn. Vodafone will build the tower in Kalorama. Both companies will now finalise their specific site plans for each location and seek the necessary regulatory approval from Yarra Ranges Council.

Improved mobile coverage benefits local residents, including providing an additional level of safety, delivers vital economic infrastructure for businesses and helps boost tourism in the Yarra Valley and the Dandenongs.

As the plans to construct these towers progress, I will keep local residents updated. At this stage, it is anticipated that the towers will be operational later this year.
