On Friday 8th February I was pleased to announce that $20million of Federal Government funding has been allocated for the duplication of the Maroondah Hwy in Coldstream and for traffic lights.

These works will make the Maroondah Hwy, Killara Rd, Station St and North Gateway intersections much safer.

The CFA, businesses and local residents have been advocating for a safer road for many years.

The project will upgrade the section of the Highway from Melba Highway to Ingram Road (a distance of 1.6 kilometres). The proposed works will include:

Installation of traffic signals at the intersection of Maroondah Highway and Killara Road/ Station Street Duplication between Killara Road and Melba Highway Duplication between Killara Road and North & South Gateway Duplication between North & South Gateway and Ingram Road, including installation of traffic signals at intersection of North & South Gateway

The final scope of the upgrade will be determined by VicRoads following consultations with Yarra Ranges Council, local residents and businesses.

With the funding now confirmed, this much needed upgrade will be managed by VicRoads.
