Funding for two local Men’s Sheds

Bens Shed in Yarra Junction and the Montrose & District Men’s Shed will be able to purchase more equipment and supplies with Coalition Government funding of $7000.

Federal Member for Casey Tony Smith MP said he was pleased to see the two deserving clubs receive funding through Round 11 of the National Shed Development Programme.

Bens Shed received $5000 for a lathe and accessories, pressbrake, guillotine and rolls, drill sharpener, welder, and metal cutting band saw.

“Bens Shed has been a strong and constant presence in the Yarra Junction community, giving men in the local area a place to socialise and learn new skills, and providing support for local primary school students through its mentoring program,” Mr Smith said.

“The $5000 funding will enable the club to purchase even more equipment for its current and future members.”

The Montrose & District Men’s Shed received $2000 towards a table saw, drilling aids, sandmaster, and woodturning tool set.

“Since its official opening in 2014, the Montrose and District Men’s Shed has grown from strength to strength,” Mr Smith said.

“The club’s new equipment will allow it to support even more people in the local area, such as schools and community groups.

“Congratulations to Bens Shed and the Montrose & District Men’s Shed, and I look forward seeing their achievements in the coming months.”
