The prize winners from the 2018 Casey Anzac Writing Competition were announced in the lead-up to Anzac Day.

This year, ten local primary schools participated with ninety students producing a piece of writing addressing the topic “What does Anzac Day mean to me”.

The Turnbull Government will build the Melbourne Airport Rail Link, connecting the CBD and Tullamarine Airport for all Victorians and the 34 million people who use the airport every year.

Talk about a rail connection to the Melbourne Airport is as old as the airport itself but through a Commonwealth investment of $5 billion, this nationally significant project will now become reality.

Anzac Day services in Casey

Later this month we’ll pause on Anzac Day to remember those who have served our nation.

In 2018, we continue to mark the centenary of the First World War, in particular the battles along the Western Front that turned the tide of the war in favour of the Allies in 1918.

Plans to build Australia’s new Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle for the Australian Army were announced in late March.

Over the 30 year life of the ‘Boxer’ vehicles, Australian industry will deliver two–thirds, or $10.2 billion, of the acquisition and sustainment work. This expenditure will create up to 1450 jobs across Australia, including 170 in Victoria.

The Turnbull Government will establish a national centre to combat the exploitation and abuse of children and vulnerable people.

The Government will provide funding in the 2018-19 Budget to enable a new national effort to combat a global epidemic of child abuse.

Pre-schoolers in Lilydale are set for a science and maths skills boost as part of a new Federal Government programme.

Backed by $6 million from the Turnbull Government and developed by the University of Canberra, the Early Learning STEM Australia (ELSA) pilot will run at the Lilydale Lakeside Children’s Centre.
